Donald Trump provokes anger by tweeting cartoon of train hitting CNN character

Donald Trump provokes anger by tweeting cartoon of train hitting CNN character  Donald Trump, already under fire for a lukewarm condemnation of violence that led to the death of a woman at the weekend, on Tuesday morning shared a cartoon of a man covered in a CNN logo being hit by a train via Twitter before deleting it minutes later. It came as he endures more criticism for his public handling of clashes in Charlottesville at the weekend, where a 32-year-old protester was killed after after being struck by a car. A White House official said the image of the train had been posted inadvertently and was deleted as soon as the error came to light. This tweet was deleted after about 30 minutes Credit: Twitter The president also apparently accidentally retweeted a post by someone calling him "a fascist", much to the amusement of critics. Mike Holden, who posted the original, wrote: "I'm announcing my retirement from Twitter. I'll never top this RT."  He also updated his Twitter biography to: "Officially Endorsed by the President of the United States." Mr Trump was criticised at the weekend for failing to single out the far-Right and white supremacists for their role in the Charlottesville unrest. He relented on Monday, reading a statement declaring that ?racism is evil?. Donald Trump: 'Racism is evil' as he condemns violence in Charlottesville 02:19 Yet the flurry of activity on his Twitter account, using violent imagery against CNN and in another incident retweeting a conspiracy theorist, raised concerns that Mr Trump?s words of condemnation about Charlottesville were being immediately and deliberately undermined. Hank Sheinkopf, a New York political strategist, said Mr Trump had demonstrated his discomfort at openly criticising the hard Right. He said posting and deleting an image of an attack on CNN fooled no-one.  ?It?s a dog whistle to the Right,? he said. ?It?s attacking the news media, attacking those he sees as the enemy.? Late on Monday, Mr Trump also shared a Tweet from a conspiracy theorist claiming the news media is ignoring violence in Chicago ? part of an argument that liberal journalists are focused only on violence perpetrated by supporters of the president. Meanwhile: 39 shootings in Chicago this weekend, 9 deaths. No national media outrage. Why is that? https://t.co/9Crutnnrp8? CNN is FakeNews ???? (@JackPosobiec) August 14, 2017 Jack Posobiec, the account owner, has made waves in far Right circles by promoting a conspiracy theory about the murder of a Democratic aide and by spreading untrue rumours about a satanic child pornography ring centred on a Washington pizza restaurant.
