The holiday season is here, and there are numerous opportunities to help neglected animals in Snohomish County. Animal shelters need donations, rescued animals need good homes, and sanctuaries need volunteers. There also are opportunities for wildlife rescue, relocation, and rehabilitation.
Smokey Point on-ramp could get new signs (again)
Richard Dittenberger of Arlington wonders if the state will make changes to signage in order to make it easier for motorists to know which lane they need to be in to get on I-5 south from 172nd Street NE (Highway 531) in Smokey Point. That ramp is a right turn onto a loop ramp.

A memorial service for Mary Dendy Graves, 58, of Dunwoody, Georgia, will be Saturday, December 6, at 2 p.m. at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road NE, Sandy Springs, Georgia. She died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 20.
New building but food bank problems remain the same
ARLINGTON ? The Arlington Community Food Bank marked its first Thanksgiving meal distribution at its new location Nov. 21, and thanks to an efficient new signup program, holiday basket coordinator Sara Katanik expects them to serve close to 450 families through Nov. 24.
